Nestled in the heart of the East Lothian countryside, a wedding day at Dunglass Estate offered an enchanting setting for James and Morven. The estate’s historic Gothic church, framed by lush gardens and ancient woodlands, created the perfect setting.
Morven and the girls had their morning preparation’s in the beautiful little seaview cottage. Getting their hair and make up done by the wonderful Anna Reilly and Laura Ford before heading over to the main house to get ready and for the most heartwarming first look with her Dad and brother. Wedding Day at Dunglass Estate
As the ceremony drew near, James stood at the historic Gothic church, filled with anticipation and excitement. The church’s timeless architecture and serene ambiance set the perfect stage for this momentous occasion. Moments later, Morven arrived, radiating confidence and grace, ready to make her grand entrance. The adorable flower girls led the way down the aisle, scattering petals with each step, followed by the elegant bridesmaids. Finally, Morven appeared on her father’s arm, capturing everyone’s hearts as she made her way toward James.
After their heartfelt ceremony, Morven and James exited the beautiful church at Dunglass Estate to a shower of confetti, the colourful celebration adding to the joy and excitement of the moment. Surrounded by their loved ones, they shared smiles and laughter as they made their way through the cheerful crowd. Following this jubilant exit, we got some family group photos, capturing the love and support of their closest relatives. We then returned to the serene and historic church, where we made great use of this amazing space before getting them both back to their family and friends to enjoy the rest of their day. My plan was to get Morven and James back out after the speeches and dinner for some more portraits as I know how beautiful Dunglass Estate can look all lit up at night.
While James and Morven reunited with their family and friends, I had the delightful opportunity to capture the exquisite details and stunning table setups by the excellent Platter and Pop. Every element, from the elegant centrepieces to the beautifully arranged place settings, was thoughtfully curated to perfection. Documenting the joyous interactions and candid moments of everyone enjoying themselves added to the richness of the day’s narrative. As the festivities continued, we transitioned seamlessly into the heartfelt speeches and sumptuous dinner, each moment reflecting the love and happiness that filled this unforgettable celebration.
The wedding speeches were filled with heartfelt emotions and joyous laughter, creating a memorable highlight of the day. Amid the touching tributes and amusing anecdotes, a special moment was reserved for Morven’s dad, as it was his birthday. To honor him, a charming Colin the Caterpillar cake was brought out, adding a delightful and whimsical touch to the occasion. This sweet gesture intertwined the joyous wedding celebration with the warmth of a birthday celebration, making it a truly unforgettable and heart-warming experience for everyone present.
As the guests mingled after dinner, I whisked Morven and James away for some nighttime portraits around the grounds of Dunglass Estate. The old church, bathed in red light, provided a dramatic backdrop, while the fairy lights twinkling along the pathways added a touch of magic. We captured these stunning shots in just 5-10 minutes before the couple returned to enjoy more moments with their friends and family, gearing up for an unforgettable night of dancing.
And now, onto the dancing part of the evening where James and Morven shared their first dance, thanks to the wonderful band, The Socials. Following this, the night came alive with some epic Ceilidh dancing, always a joy to capture and a guarantee for unforgettable images.
This last image cracks me up. As I left for the evening Morven wanted 1 last photo with her and the girls. EPIC.

The venue is a photographer’s dream, offering a perfect blend of historic charm and natural beauty. The old church, with its striking architecture, provides a dramatic and timeless backdrop, especially when illuminated in the evening, as seen in the photos above.
