About My Services
How long have you been photographing weddings?
I have been photographing weddings professionally for over 17 years and love every second of it.
How would you describe your wedding photography?
I’m all about blending in and letting the day unfold naturally. I find this approach creates the most genuine, natural-looking photos—nothing forced, just real moments as they happen. Of course, there are times when I’ll step in, like helping to gather family members for group photos, but for the most part, you get to fully enjoy your day while I capture the memories for you!
What wedding packages do you offer?
I offer wedding packages to suit every kind of celebration! Whether you’re planning a big wedding with full-day coverage from morning prep to the dancing at night, a smaller wedding with just a few hours of photography, or an intimate elopement in Scotland with just you and your partner—I’ve got you covered.
And if you’re eloping and need a witness, I can help with that too! I’ve done it many times before and would be more than happy to assist.
Can I read reviews from other couples who have worked with you?
You can read many reviews and kind words from past couples. I highly recommend taking a look, as these will give you a great sense of not only my work but also of who I am as a person. You can view them below, or simply search John Johnston Photography on Google, and you’ll find them there as well.
Do you have all the necessary insurance required?
I have public liability, professional indemnity, and camera equipment insurance. These can be provided to wedding venues if required.
What do you deliver?
I typically deliver around 900–1,000 high-quality images for a full day wedding, completely watermark-free. These are yours to cherish and print as often and as large as you like. For smaller or shorter-coverage weddings and elopements, this number may be slightly lower simply because I’m not present for as much of the day.
How do I access my wedding images?
You have your very own beautiful, private online gallery with complete control of it –
Download Your Photos: Save all your cherished memories directly to your device
Share with Friends and Family: Effortlessly share your favourite photos with loved ones.
Privacy Options: Have the flexibility to hide specific photos from guests if you choose.
Additional Features
- Integrated Shopping Cart: Purchase prints and other photo products directly from your gallery.
- Beautiful Slideshow: Enjoy a stunning slideshow set to music, sitting alongside all of your images, to beautifully capture the essence of your special day.
- Face Detection : With advanced face detection, you can easily find specific photos of you, your partner, and your guests. This feature is also available to your guests, provided they have access to your gallery. This feature is super handy as you will have many photos within your gallery.
Can I see some examples of these galleries?
Once you get in touch, I’ll provide you with access to full-day wedding galleries, showcasing the entire day from start to finish. This allows you to see my approach to photographing weddings and gives you a clear idea of what to expect from your own wedding day. I believe it’s essential to view complete galleries, not just a handful of carefully chosen images, so you can truly appreciate the full story of each wedding. These galleries are included in every single wedding package I offer.
Do you offer a gallery online for family and friends to view our images?
I certainly do. You decide on who has access to it. Very easy to share with your friends and family
What albums and products do you have and can I see a sample of them before my wedding day?
You can view my brochures for my beautiful wedding albums and USB package below.
The wooden USB package is included in my all day wedding coverage package. It’s an optional addon for the shorter coverage wedding packages.
Do you photograph weddings outside of the Glasgow area?
I photograph weddings all over Scotland. The first 150 miles from my office in Glasgow are included, and for any weddings further afield, additional fee’s may be required. Please get in touch to discuss.
Do you offer a second shooter?
You can easily add a second shooter if needed. We can discuss this option during our chat as part of the booking process.
Before Your Wedding
Do you need a list of images I require?
I primarily shoot in a documentary style, letting the day unfold naturally. However, I’ll send you an online questionnaire before your wedding day to fill in any group shots you may want, usually immediate family members and your bridal party. I recommend keeping this to around 10 groups or less, so you can enjoy more of your day.
How much is your booking fee?
The booking fee is £300 to secure your date (which gets deducted from your final balance). Once it’s paid, your date is officially locked in, and I won’t take on any other work that day—it’s all yours!
What if we need to reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, please contact me as soon as possible. I’m happy to move your deposit to your new date, provided I am available. If I am already booked on your new date, your booking fee is non-refundable. If your new wedding date is over 12 months from your original date, there may be a slight increase in price to reflect that year’s pricing.
My wedding isn’t for another year. How many times do we need to meet up during that time?
About four weeks before your big day, I’ll send over a quick wedding questionnaire to gather any updated details I might need. From there, we’ll schedule a catch-up to go over the timeline and any final details. If you’re in Glasgow, we can meet in person, or we can do a video or phone call—whatever works best for you!
Throughout the year, I’ll also send a few emails with helpful tips, advice, and supplier recommendations if you need them. Just a little something to make the planning process that bit smoother!
On Your Wedding Day
How many hours do you stay for our wedding?
All-Day Coverage:
- Begins approximately 2 hours before your ceremony.
- Continues through to 5–6 songs after your first dance.
Smaller Weddings/Half day coverage:
- Includes 6 hours of continuous coverage.
- Option to add extra hours if needed.
Elopements:
- 1 hour of morning prep, ceremony and couples shoot
What if you are unable to attend my wedding?
This is a legitimate question, though I’ve never missed a wedding. In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend, I have a network of amazing wedding photographers with a similar style who could step in. We all support each other in the industry to ensure your day is beautifully captured.
After Your Wedding
How long do I have to wait for my photos after my wedding?
I aim to deliver your full gallery within 5–6 weeks during busy periods, though it’s often a little sooner! To keep the excitement going, all my packages include a set of previews within 24–48 hours after your wedding—ready to download and share straight from your private online gallery.
