Zoe and Rory had an incredible Loch Lomond wedding, more specifically, taking place at Rowardennan Youth Hostel, nestled right beside the majestic Ben Lomond. This unique venue, with its breathtaking views and serene atmosphere, offered the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. While it may not be a well-known wedding destination, the hostel’s rustic charm and stunning natural surroundings made it the perfect choice. If you’re considering a Loch Lomond wedding, the Rowerdennan Youth Hostel is a hidden gem worth exploring. There are many photos within this post, more than usual, but in order to showcase this wedding day properly, it had to be done. 🙂

Zoe and Rory’s wedding at Loch Lomond was not just a celebration of their love, but also a testament to the incredible support and dedication of their friends and family. Zoe and Rory would be the first to express their deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to making their day truly special. Their loved ones took on every detail, from crafting beautiful flower arrangements and creating personalized signage to setting the perfect musical atmosphere. The breathtaking aisle overlooking Loch Lomond was a masterpiece in itself, and even Zoe’s stunning wedding dress was lovingly made by her talented friend Ross Hunter. This wedding was a true labour of love, made unforgettable by the extraordinary efforts of those closest to them.

I arrived a few hours before the ceremony, knowing there would be so much to capture during this time. As always, I had a Zoom meeting with Zoe and Rory before the big day to get a feel for their vision and to fine-tune the wedding day schedule. Upon arrival, I immediately began documenting the intricate details that made this day so unique, while also capturing some moments of Zoe and Rory getting ready.
Bride and Groom first look
Before their wedding ceremony, Zoe and Rory shared a special “first look” moment that was truly incredible to document. I always tell my couples beforehand to just go with the flow, ignore the camera, and focus on being present with each other. This advice really paid off— the raw emotion and connection between them was very clear to see

Now, onto the ceremony—where do I even begin? It was a perfect blend of emotion and fun. Their wedding party made their grand entrance down the aisle individually to some epic tunes, setting the tone for the rest of the day. Zoe and Rory followed, and the ceremony, officiated by a close friend, was filled with heartfelt moments that brought both laughter and tears to everyone in attendance.
In a fun twist, they played a game of rock-paper-scissors to decide who would say their vows first—how cool is that? After exchanging their vows, they made their way back up the aisle, with guests showering them in bubbles—a wonderfully unique alternative to confetti.

After some drinks, canapés, and a chance for Zoe and Rory to chat with everyone and soak in the moment, we slipped away for a quick session of couples portraits. These don’t need to take long, and this time was no exception. My priority is always to ensure they don’t miss out on too much time with their guests, so we kept it brief, with plans to capture more moments after the speeches and dinner.
Couples are generally more relaxed after dinner, once all the formalities are out of the way, and it’s always nice for them to step away for 10 minutes to take it all in again.
Wedding Details
Before the speeches began, I took a moment to capture the incredible details that Zoe and Rory’s friends had worked so hard to create. The personal touches and creative efforts truly made the day look stunning, adding a unique and heartfelt vibe to their celebration. Every element, from the décor to the little details, reflected the love and care their friends poured into making the day unforgettable. It was a beautiful testament to the strong community surrounding the couple.
As the guests were getting seated for the speeches, there was a lively atmosphere with quite a few speakers lined up, including the bride and groom themselves. Just before the speeches kicked off, some of the guests were glued to the screen, watching the England game from the Euros, and yes, they won on penalties.
Spoiler alert – They got beat in the finals the very next week.

After the speeches, we ventured back out for some couples portraits in the stunning surroundings of Loch Lomond before returning for the evening entertainment. As the night unfolded, it was clear from the photos that everyone had an absolute blast, with joy and celebration in the air from start to finish. It was such an incredible experience documenting Zoe and Rory’s special day, capturing the love, laughter, and unforgettable moments they shared with their loved ones.
