Eilean Donan Castle Wedding
Allison and Alasdair chose an Eilean Donan Castle wedding, and it was absolutely incredible. Based in the USA, with Allison and her family from there, and Alasdair being Scottish, it was only natural for them to have a Scottish castle wedding. The day started early at the lovely Eilean Donan apartments as they had so much planned before heading to Eilean Donan Castle for the ceremony. Hair and makeup were flawlessly done by the brilliant Heather at Bee Bonnie Beauty, ensuring everyone looked their absolute best for the big day. Her expertise and attention to detail truly added to the magic of the occasion.
The couple shared a beautiful first look, and Allison had an emotional first look with her dad as well. Before all of that, they had blessings read out by family members. At this point in the afternoon, they still hadn’t seen each other, so they held hands while standing on opposite sides of the building. It was amazing to document this special moment for them.
Getting married at Eilean Donan Castle
The entire day was flawlessly orchestrated by the wonderful Premier Weddings Scotland, a team I’ve had the pleasure of working with on many occasions. Having a wedding planner, especially when you’re traveling from overseas, is invaluable. Cheryl and Lucy, the sister duo behind Premier Weddings Scotland, ensure that every detail is taken care of, allowing the couple to enjoy their day stress-free. Their expertise truly shines through, making everything run smoothly.
With the preparations complete, it was time to head to Eilean Donan Castle for the wedding ceremony. I’m so glad the sun was shining, especially for the guests who traveled from warmer climates. The ceremony took place in the magnificent Banqueting Hall, an ideal setting for a Scottish castle wedding. I can only imagine how awe-inspiring it must have been for the guests from America, with the castle’s historic ambiance offering some proper Highlander vibes! 😊
Eilean Donan Castle private courtyard
After the ceremony, we all made our way outside into the courtyard, which offers breathtaking views of the loch. It was the perfect spot for the bride, groom, and guests to relax, enjoy some drinks, and exchange hugs and congratulations. The atmosphere was filled with joy as everyone celebrated the happy couple. We took a few group photos in the courtyard before the three of us—myself, the bride, and the groom—set off to explore the beautiful surroundings of the castle. It was a fantastic opportunity to capture some truly stunning and intimate portraits.

As mentioned, we took full advantage of the stunning views outside the castle before hopping into my car for a little mini adventure. This brief getaway is such a great moment for the bride and groom to take a breath and soak in the day. The drive was a quick 10 minutes, and soon we found ourselves in a breathtaking spot overlooking the incredible Scottish hills. The scenery was simply awe-inspiring, with rolling hills and vast landscapes that perfectly encapsulated the beauty of Scotland. It was the ideal backdrop for some truly memorable photos.
Frame and Tailor Sperry tent
After the ceremony, we returned to the Eilean Donan Apartments, where the evening’s events awaited. Before the speeches and dinner began, I took a moment to step into the fabulously set-up ,large Sperry tent by the wonderful Frame & Tailor. The space was breathtaking, with every detail meticulously arranged, from the elegant table settings to the intricate decorations.
Scottish sunsets
As the night drew in and the dinner and speeches came to a close, we were blessed with an incredible sunset. The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink, creating a breathtaking backdrop. We couldn’t resist heading back outside to capture some more couples portraits, this time with the stunning sunset adding a magical touch to the photos.
Scottish Ceilidh Dancing
Now it was time for some epic ceilidh dancing, brought to life by the wonderful Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band. The energy was electric as everyone took to the floor, with guests having an absolute blast dancing the night away. Even the guests from overseas threw themselves into the ceilidh dancing with enthusiasm, making it a night to remember for everyone.

As the night approached midnight, I knew I wanted to capture one last epic shot to end the day. It had been a long, wonderful day, and the Sperry tent by Frame & Tailor was the perfect subject. All lit up against the dark night sky, the tent looked absolutely stunning with both Allison and Alasdair right in the middle. Perfect.
