Daniel & Natalie’s Wedding at The Biscuit Factory

Daniel and Natalie got married at The Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh. I joined them before the ceremony and stayed for the celebrations afterwards, with portraits around the building and plenty happening on the dance floor later on.

Before the ceremony

There was no getting-ready coverage for this one. I started at the venue, photographing the arrivals and a little of what was happening before the ceremony.

Daniel and Natalie’s ceremony

Maria Cairnie led the ceremony. There were readings, laughter and a few tears among the guests, as well as Daniel and Natalie. These are the moments I like to keep an eye out for alongside what’s happening at the front.

Confetti outside The Biscuit Factory

After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside with confetti ready for Daniel and Natalie. The photographs below say it better than I could!

Drinks and catching up

Back inside, guests had drinks and canapés while the children got stuck into the games. A chance for everyone to catch up, and for me to photograph a few of those moments between the bigger parts of the day.

Family photographs and couple portraits

We used the space outside for the group photographs before taking some portraits of Daniel and Natalie. There’s plenty of variety around the building, from the brickwork and painted walls outside to the window light and posters indoors. We made use of a few different spots without going far.

The reception set-up

The space inside for their speeches and dinner is a photographers dream, plenty of natural light and so much space to move to capture all the reactions from everyone during some of the speeches later on. The long tables were set with flowers and candles, with bunting and lights overhead. I photographed the room before everyone sat down, so Daniel and Natalie have a record of all those details too.

The reception and speeches

A quick shot of Natalie and Daniel downstairs then we headed back up for the speeches — there was plenty of laughter to catch as well as some tears too. Afterwards, there was a projected presentation too, which Natalies sister set up, with everyone gathered to watch. A beautiful moment to see and a lovely exchange between the two sisters.

Evening celebrations

Later on, the dance floor was busy, with guests joining Daniel and Natalie under the lights. From the linked arms to the absolute shapes being thrown, there was plenty to photograph right through this last part of my coverage.
