Kelly and Alasdair celebrated their beautiful wedding at Dundas Castle just a few weeks ago. Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh, Dundas Castle provided the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. Kelly’s family travelled all the way from the US, while Alasdair’s family is more local. It was wonderful to see both families come together to celebrate their day. The entire wedding was beautifully planned down to every detail, thanks to the lovely Lyndsay from Clementine Weddings and events. Her expert coordination ensured the day flowed seamlessly, creating an unforgettable experience for Kelly, Alasdair, and all their guests.

I began the morning capturing some stunning exterior and interior shots of the beautiful Dundas Castle, setting the scene for the day ahead. Afterward, I joined Kelly and her bridal party as they were getting their hair and makeup done by the talented Leslie from Pamper and Polish. Alasdair was also getting ready at Dundas Castle, giving me the perfect opportunity to capture some great photos of him once he was looking sharp in his kilt. He also had a quiet moment in the snooker room reading a lovely letter that Kelly wrote him.
Getting married at Dundas Castle
The interior of Dundas Castle was beautifully decorated, featuring stunning floral arrangements by the talented Feather Grass Florals. The elegant stationery, designed by Jenna B Stationery, added a personal touch, and the gorgeous cake by Liggy’s Cake was truly a showstopper! Every detail came together perfectly to create a magical atmosphere

Meanwhile, back in the bridal room, everything was coming together as the girls were getting ready for the big day. Kelly’s mum and Alasdair’s mum was there, along with her sister and friends, helping her with her beautiful Evelie wedding dress and any jewellery she was wearing, adding a special, personal touch to the moment. I absolutely love this part of the day—there are always so many sweet, emotional moments to capture. It’s such a joy to witness the excitement and love in the room.
First look with Kelly’s Dad
One of the most incredible parts of the day is capturing the moment when the bride and her dad see each other for the first time, with Kelly in her wedding dress. As a dad myself, I often think about what this moment will mean for me when it’s my own daughter’s turn, so I truly understand how significant and emotional this scene is. It’s such a heartfelt and touching part of the day, and having the privilege to capture it is nothing short of amazing.
Dundas Castle Wedding Ceremony in the Auld keep
As Kelly and her dad made their way through the castle and up into the historic Auld Keep, all the guests and Alasdair waited eagerly. The beautiful ceremony, led by David, a humanist celebrant, was filled with meaningful moments. Kelly and Alasdair exchanged vows, and in a special Scottish tradition, they shared a toast from the Quaich to celebrate their union, although to be fair, Alasdair drank most of that, as you can see from Kelly’s reaction. 🙂

After the ceremony, as the guests made their way back down the staircase and into the castle, we headed up to the rooftop for some couples portraits. Alongside the talented Ashley from Ashley Hope Films, we took full advantage of the incredible space and breathtaking views overlooking Edinburgh and the Forth Road Bridges. Thanks to the amazing staff at Dundas Castle, we were also able to return to the rooftop later in the evening as the sun was setting, capturing even more magical moments. Keep scrolling to see those stunning sunset shots! 🙂
After Kelly and Alasdair had mingled with their guests, cut their cake, sipped champagne, and soaked in the joy of the day, we headed out for a few more couples portraits. We made great use of the stunning grounds at Dundas Castle, capturing some beautiful photos for them. To top it off, we had the chance to meet Sir Jack and Lady Stewart-Clark’s charming animals—Beech, one of their lovely dogs, and the famous Dundas Llamas.

It was now time for speeches and dinner, but before that, we had one more important moment to capture—the bubble tunnel! Instead of the traditional confetti toss, Kelly and Alasdair opted for a bubble tunnel, which made for some fantastic photo opportunities. With all the guests blowing bubbles, the newlyweds made their way through the colourful, floating bubbles before heading into the marquee for the evening celebrations

After the delicious dinner thanks to Heritage Portfolio, and before the dancing, we had a perfect opportunity to return to the rooftop as the sun began to set, capturing some truly breathtaking sunset photos. The golden light was stunning, creating the most perfect backdrop.
Dundas Castle evening reception in the marquee
The evening reception was in full swing as Kelly and Alasdair shared their first dance, a beautiful moment between the newlyweds. This was followed by the most hilarious and entertaining dance routine between Kelly and her dad, which had everyone laughing and cheering. After that, the dance floor was packed all night, thanks to the incredible energy of the Apollos Group wedding band, who kept the party going and the guests dancing until the end.
Night time portraits at Dundas Castle
Before wrapping up for the evening, I always encourage my couples to step outside for some fresh air after all the dancing. It’s a great way to take a breath and capture some last-minute night shots. Thankfully, Kelly and Alasdair were totally up for it, and I’m thrilled with the results! These photos are the perfect way to end an incredible day, capturing the magic of the night and the love they share.
