Lizanne & Jitin’s autumn wedding at Blair Castle

Lizanne and Jitin got married at Blair Castle in Perthshire, before heading over to Clachan barn for their reception. Their October wedding gave us plenty of autumn colour for the portraits, with time spent both around the estate and inside the castle. Cheryl from Premier Weddings Scotland put so much care into planning the day. It’s always lovely working with her—you know everything’s in good hands, leaving the couple free to enjoy themselves.

There was a lovely Scottish thread running through the day, from Lizanne’s tartan sash to the piper outside the castle. Below is their story, from getting ready and seeing each other before the ceremony through to the dance floor at the barn.

A look around Blair Castle

Morning preparations

Lizanne got ready at Clachan cottage on the estate, while Jitin’s morning started at the Old Mill Inn. I’ve included a few of those smaller details here too, alongside the finishing touches to Lizanne’s outfit and a portrait of Jitin.

Portraits before the ceremony

Lizanne and Jitin saw each other before the ceremony, so their portraits started earlier in the day. I particularly like the photographs of them together here—the smiles and the hug say far more than I could add.

Their ceremony at Blair Castle

The State Dining Room was the setting for their ceremony. As well as photographing Lizanne and Jitin, I kept an eye on the people watching them. Those reactions are part of the story too, and there’s plenty happening beyond the front of the room. Thier ceremony was conducted by the wonderful Claire the humanist.

Together outside the castle

Wedding portraits around Blair Castle

After the ceremony, we made use of the grounds for more portraits. The autumn leaves brought plenty of colour, and we had a mix of photographs with the castle behind them and closer portraits along the paths and bridge. We took some inside too, which gives this part of the gallery a different feel.

The reception at Clachan barn

The celebrations continued at Clachan barn, with canapés, candlelit tables and everyone gathering inside. I always like to include a few photographs of the room and the details alongside the people—it’s all part of what the couple has put together for their day.

A few words at the tables

There were some lovely reactions around the tables, from laughter to a few tears. These are the moments I like to watch for: not just whoever is speaking, but the people listening as well.

The evening reception

Lizanne and Jitin took to the dance floor, then their guests joined them. From the hugs to the dancing that followed, there was plenty to photograph right through this last part of the day.
