Wedding at the Free Company

Becky and Dave celebrated their beautiful wedding at The Free Company in Edinburgh, a venue that perfectly complemented their special day. The morning began with an intimate session at a charming nearby Airbnb, where I joined Becky and her family as they prepared for the day ahead. Stephanie from Craig_Creations worked her magic on Becky’s hair, while the air buzzed with excitement and joy as she got ready, surrounded by her loved ones. Becky looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress by Bliss Studio Edinburgh, with finishing touches by Gemma Sargent, setting the tone for a day filled with love and memorable moments. Before heading off for the wedding venue I got to capture a beautiful moment between Becky and her Dad.

With Becky all set, it was now off to The Free Company to catch up with Dave and the boys. The excitement was building as they prepared for the big moment, sharing laughs and last-minute touches. I also took the opportunity to capture the guests as they began to arrive, each one bringing their own joy and anticipation to this special day.

The Free Company wedding ceremony

It was now time for Becky to make her grand entrance, arriving with her family in a classic wedding car. Despite the rain beginning to fall, they embraced the moment and decided to proceed with the outdoor wedding ceremony at The Free Company—such a beautiful decision! Catherine Simpson conducted the ceremony flawlessly, guiding Becky and Dave through their vows.

After an epic ceremony and an equally impressive confetti throw by the guests, it was time for everyone to relax and enjoy the moment. The guests mingled, savoring drinks and canapés while Becky and Dave basked in the love and joy surrounding them. When it came time for the group photos, I know some of you might think they can drag on forever, but here’s a little secret: all of the group shots took no more than 10 minutes! This efficiency meant Becky and Dave had even more time to mingle with their guests and fully enjoy their day. Perfect.

We caught a brief break in the rainy weather, so we seized the opportunity to step outside for some couples portraits amidst the stunning surroundings of The Free Company. In just 10 minutes, we captured some beautiful moments, and both Becky and Dave mentioned afterward how fun and relaxed the experience was—truly the perfect compliment.

Beautiful indoor space at The Free Company

Before everyone was called in for dinner and speeches, I had the chance to pop indoors and capture the stunning setup where the evening’s festivities would take place. The room looked absolutely classy, with every detail—from the elegant table settings to the exquisite flower arrangements—perfectly in place by the wonderful Helen from Edinburgh Foraged Flowers. It was a true testament to the dedication and skill of the staff and suppliers who brought Becky and Dave’s vision to life. The atmosphere was set for an unforgettable evening, filled with heartfelt speeches and delicious food.

Now it was time for the speeches, and what a heartfelt moment it was. Each speaker shared beautiful words, with laughter echoing through the room and a few tears quietly shed. Capturing this part of the day is one of my absolute favorites—there’s something special about the raw emotions and genuine reactions. In true documentary style, I was able to capture every smile, tear, and shared glance, preserving these unforgettable moments for Becky and Dave to cherish forever.

After everyone was fed and refreshed, it was a quick turnaround to get ready for the evening reception. As the guests moved into the other room, Becky and Dave took a moment to cut their cake and mingle a bit more with their loved ones – with the cake beautifully made by Nikki from Sneaky Beets. We found ourselves with a spare five minutes, so we headed up to the loft space—usually reserved for ceremonies when the weather doesn’t cooperate—and I couldn’t help but notice a stunning floral arrangement adorning the ceiling. It was the perfect setting for some epic portraits of Becky and Dave. The vibrant blooms added a touch of magic to the photos, creating a beautiful and intimate moment for the newlyweds. What do you think?

As The Jiggers began setting up for the evening’s dancing, the guests eagerly poured back into the room, creating a buzz of excitement. Becky and Dave shared their first dance, a moment of epicness that set the tone for the rest of the night. It didn’t take long for the party to kick into high gear as The Jiggers played some epic ceilidh tunes, filling the dance floor with laughter and energy. Everyone was up and dancing, fully immersed in the joy of the celebration, and I was right there to capture every unforgettable moment. 🙂
