WOW. That’s one word to describe photographing a wedding in Yosemite Park. What an incredible adventure, 7am ceremony with the most perfect light, just a few family members and close friends of Helen + Mike, walking around Yosemite park taking photos. Most excellent. 🙂
There’s a back story on why they picked Yosemite Park and how it came to be… and most importantly, how they got there 😉 Below is their story, which I’ve been given permission to share. This is Helen and Mike’s words.
“We left Glasgow in April 2017 and cycled to Istanbul via Stockholm and Helsinki, crossed Turkey and flew from the capital of Georgia to Beijing. We spent nearly 3 months in China eating the best food and cycling up the toughest mountains before riding the coast of Vietnam, across Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia to Singapore. We flew to Australia, our third continent, on New Years Eve 2017 and followed most of the south and east coast to finish in Byron Bay 3 months later. Bringing us up to date, we left San Diego at the end of March 2018 and cycled the coast to reach San Francisco in time to meet family and friends to get married in Yosemite on April 15th 2018. By this point we had ridden over 22,000km. Now we’re headed over to Montreal to fly back to Europe and ride north back to Glasgow where we’ll be home around August 18th 2018.
We always knew we’d be getting married in Yosemite, but only set the date once we were in China as we had a little more aware of our cycling capabilities and the distances we could cover. We kept the wedding party small at: biological parents, one friend each plus their partners, and our minister was a friend of ours already living in America.
The journey started out of our own mental illness and episodes of depression which gave us some perspective on what we wanted to do for ourselves in life. We met on Tinder and very quickly knew we’d found in each other a life adventuring partner and the engagement didn’t take long to follow. We’re raising money for Mind alongside the journey and everything from our advice for cycling in China to our videos and current location can be found at our website www.evereast.co.uk“
I want to personally thank Helen and Mike for allowing me to be part of their day, and to document it for them. It was absolutely amazing.
