The Caves – Edinburgh Wedding – Nick + Skye
Nick and Skye got married at The Caves in Edinburgh, technically speaking, the name of the venue is the Rowantree, with the caves being next door but everyone and anyone Ive met so far seem to call the whole venue The Caves so we’ll stick with that 🙂
A few years back I had the pleasure of photographing Skye’s sisters wedding, Tiree + Steven at the Moorpark House Hotel. It’s always the biggest compliment to be asked back again from the same family, It means I must be doing something right at least 🙂
With Tiree just having her baby it was best advised for her not to head through to Edinburgh from Ayrshire to Skye’s wedding, what with the long journey, much to everyone’s disappointment, but with the technology we have today, nothing that an iPad and Facetime wouldn’t fix. Throughout the whole morning, we had Tiree, Steven and the little one on the iPad watching things unfold, I’m pretty sure the ceremony was filmed too so It wasn’t all disappointment for Tiree. They even made it into the slideshow below ( even if it was only on the iPad )
The Caves is a wonderful wedding venue which has some unique characteristics, which I think made Skye love it even more. To be able to just step outside and have Edinburgh old town right there, It’s a joy for any photographer. Skye being a wedding photographer herself, and having moved to New Zealand, high up on her priority was to get as many photos around Edinburgh as possible, so myself, the Bride and Groom and wedding party all went for a long walk around Edinburgh, even making it up next to the castle for some Images. As photographers, we dont always have the luxury of 1-2 hours with just the Bride and Groom so it made a nice change, and shows in the final result.
Congratulations Nick and Skye and all the best for the future, i had an absolute blast being part of your wedding, even had the chance to show some of my dance moves during the evening reception.
